The Community Action for Self Help, part of the New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), provides resources and assistance for homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessness. The program works with community-based agencies to offer a range of services to help individuals regain self-sufficiency. These services may include emergency food and shelter, job training, housing assistance, and other supports. The goal of the program is to prevent homelessness and enable individuals to gain the skills and resources needed to maintain stable housing.
