There Are Currently 3519 Units Available Under Management by the Hampton Redevelopment & Housing Authority. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Hampton Redevelopment & Housing Authority Serves the Hampton, Metropolitan Area.

Initially established for the purpose of revitalizing the downtown area of Hampton, the Authority embarked on five significant redevelopment projects in the 1960s. These endeavors were made possible by financial support from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and included the revitalization of Bridge Street, Old Hampton, Phoebus, Buckroe, and West Hampton. The Authority has entered into an agreement with HUD to oversee two major housing initiatives. They currently own and manage three public housing apartment complexes and administer more than 2,000 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Additionally, the Housing Authority is responsible for the ownership and/or management of over 400 non-public housing units throughout the city of Hampton. For a number of years, the City of Hampton has entrusted the Housing Authority with the task of serving as a subrecipient of funds received from HUD, allowing them to administer the HOME and CDBG Program.
