There Are Currently 80 Units Available Under Management by the Housing Authority of Childress. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Housing Authority of Childress Serves the Childress, Metropolitan Area.
Public housing was established by the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. The purpose of the act was to provide homes for those of low and moderate income and to provide jobs for the unemployed. The Housing Authority of Childress, Texas was organized in 1957. They first built fifty units and began housing families in 1963. Then in 1982 they built thirty more units.
