There Are Currently 51 Units Available Under Management by the Rockwood Housing Commission. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Rockwood Housing Commission Serves the Rockwood, Metropolitan Area.
The Rockwood Housing Commission (RHC) was founded in 1968 under Michigan law, after receiving approval from the Rockwood City Council. The RHC is overseen by a Board of Commissioners consisting of five members, appointed by the Mayor, serving staggered five-year terms. The Executive Director and staff handle the day-to-day operations. In 1969, the RHC collaborated with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to establish an agreement to construct a tall building known as the Irving Brewer Senior Apartments, catering specifically to low-income senior citizens.
