There Are Currently 735 Units Available Under Management by the South Portland Housing Authority. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the South Portland Housing Authority Serves the South Portland, Metropolitan Area.
In early 1943, The South Portland Housing Authority was established to provide defense housing for the numerous families that were moving into the area in the defense war effort industry in South Portland. When the Federal Government liquidated defense housing after World War II, the South Portland Housing Authority was established.
