There Are Currently 1589 Units Available Under Management by the Housing Authority of the City of Bloomington. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Housing Authority of the City of Bloomington Serves the Bloomington, Metropolitan Area.

In 1961, the BHA was founded and by 1968, the first affordable housing units were built. Presently, the BHA has a workforce of 30 individuals and offers housing support to over 2,500 households in Monroe County annually. The organization manages three affordable housing communities and supplies over 1,300 Housing Choice Vouchers, commonly referred to as Section 8, which enable eligible families with limited income to rent from the private market. In addition to housing assistance, the BHA actively runs service coordination programs such as the Family Self-Sufficiency Program and Step Up Program.
