The creation of the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG) dates back to 1938 when the City Council of Columbus, Georgia gave their approval through a resolution authorized by Georgia law. HACG holds the distinction of being the fourth public housing authority established in the state of Georgia. According to Georgia law, housing authorities possess their own legal identity and are separate entities from city or county governments. The primary objective of HACG is to offer affordable housing options to low-income families residing in Columbus, Georgia.
