The hernando county housing authority was created by the hernando county board of county commissioners on may 3,1977 with the adoption of resolution #77-32. The housing authority has a five member board of commissioners who are appointed by the governor of the state of florida. The housing authority administers three main programs, section 8 housing choice voucher program, the state housing initiatives partnership (ship) program and a neighbor stabilization program (nsp) rental program.
