There Are Currently 3608 Units Available Under Management by the Waterbury Housing Authority. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Waterbury Housing Authority Serves the Waterbury, Metropolitan Area.

The housing authority of the city of waterbury (wha) was founded in 1953 to provide affordable housing in waterbury for families who lack the means to purchase or rent housing at market prices. Wha’s mission is to achieve excellence in the housing industry by providing housing opportunities and customer satisfaction to enhance the quality of life for very-low, low and moderate-income residents. Wha is a federally funded quasi-municipal agency which operates under direction of a board of commissioners appointed by the mayor. Current staff is 39 employees. Wha currently owns and operates residential properties with 785 family units, housing approximately 2,068 individuals throughout its public housing units. In addition, another 2,750 families (5,005 individuals) are assisted by the housing choice voucher program (section 8).
