The Jackson County Housing Authority has the capacity to provide homes to more than 1,300 households. Jackson County Housing Authority owns and manages more than 750 units of conventional public housing. That housing is located in Carbondale, Murphysboro, Grand Tower, Elkville, Ava, and Desoto. A resident in the public housing program must be income eligible and must adhere to program guidelines. An additional 573 units of Housing Choice Vouchers are made available to scattered homes throughout the county.
