There Are Currently 244 Units Available Under Management by the Rensselaer Housing Authority. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Rensselaer Housing Authority Serves the Rensselaer, Metropolitan Area.
Rensselaer Housing Authority was established in 1952. Ground breaking for John Warden Apartments (85 Aiken Ave. Rensselaer) took place in the early 1970’s. Patroons Dorp (Broadway, First and Second Street) had its ground breaking in 1982. Rensselaer Housing Authority currently has 146 Units combined between both smoke free sites. Rensselaer Housing Authority also has a Section 8 Program. The jurisdictions for this program are the City of Rensselaer, Poestenkill, West Sand Lake, Wynantskill, Averill Park, Defreestville, East Greenbush and North Greenbush, as well as any area in Rensselaer County within a 30- mile radius of the city of Rensselaer that is not covered by a Section 8 office.
