Patroons dorp (broadway, first and second street) had its ground breaking in 1982. Rensselaer housing authority currently has 146 units combined between both smoke free sites. Rensselaer housing authority also has a section 8 program. The jurisdictions for this program are the city of rensselaer, poestenkill, west sand lake, wynantskill, averill park, defreestville, east greenbush and north greenbush, as well as any area in rensselaer county within a 30- mile radius of the city of rensselaer that is not covered by a section 8 office.
