There Are Currently 3383 Units Available Under Management by the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale. These Low-income Housing Units Consist of Section 8, Public Housing, and Low-income Housing Tax Credit Properties. the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale Serves the Fort Lauderdale, Metropolitan Area.
Created by the City of Fort Lauderdale in 1938, the HACFL has actively developed, managed, and maintained decent and affordable housing in the community for more than eighty years. The Housing Authority currently manages approximately 95 public housing units, 170 affordable housing units, 1,250 tax credit units, and administers over 3,133 housing choice vouchers. We offer services to help residents achieve self-sufficiency and improve their lives such as the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, the Step-Up Apprenticeship Initiative. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program helps residents achieve independence from all types of governmental assistance by providing opportunities for employment, education, homeownership, counseling, and other social service assistance. The Step-Up Apprenticeship Program provides low-income residents access to education, job skills, and employment opportunities while working to rehabilitate housing in the community. The HACFL continues to focus its efforts on creating, providing, and increasing affordable housing opportunities to Broward County residents.
